While General Motors recently came out with its Chevrolet Volt, four electrical engineering students at Missouri University of Science and Technology recently completed their own vehicle, a hybrid go-kart.

When athletic trainers go through certification to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation or use an automated external defibrillator (AED), they rarely think they will actually have to use that training in real life.
Loud echoes of “thud” and “whap” reverberate across the lawn in the shadow of the oldest building on Missouri S&T’s campus. A dozen members of the Boffer Club don medieval costumes and swing foam-padded weapons at each other during meetings.

On Homecoming, Oct. 8, the Missouri S&T Miner football team will take the field for a game for the 1,000th time. (The game begins at 1 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.) During this era of Miner football — which dates back to the first game in 1893 — fans have witnessed many memorable moments.

Missouri S&T attracts some of the best and brightest students, but even these high achievers get anxious when heading off to college. That’s where Missouri S&T PRO (preview, registration and orientation) leaders come in. They combine friendly faces with sage advice that can really help get new students off on the right track during Opening Week orientation, the week before classes begin on Aug. 22.

The Missouri S&T BBQ Club recognizes all styles of barbecue, but their specialty is pulled pork. “There are as many styles and opinions about good barbecue as there are people,” says Kevin Brady, the club’s advisor. “Pulled pork is made from shoulder roasts, sauced with tangy southern sauce, and served on the bun with slaw.”

A former bread factory’s transformation into a home for Missouri University of Science and Technology’s award-winning design teams is now complete.
Missouri S&T’s Kummer Student Design Center is a 23,000-square-foot facility with retail space and room for the majority of the university’s design teams.
